Current vacancies
Non-Executive Director
We are seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to help shape the future of one of the UK’s most strategically important maritime gateways.
As one of the country’s largest trust ports, Harwich Haven Authority plays a vital role in supporting national trade, safeguarding navigation, enabling economic growth and protecting a unique marine environment. Approximately 40% of the UK’s container traffic travels through the Haven, underlining its importance to the national economy.
This appointment offers an outstanding opportunity for an experienced leader to contribute at Board level during an exciting period of strategic development. Working alongside fellow Board members and the Executive team, the successful candidate will provide independent challenge, governance oversight and strategic insight to help ensure the Haven continues to thrive for future generations.
We welcome interest from individuals with senior-level experience who can bring expertise, sound judgement and a commitment to high standards of governance and public service.
If you are motivated by the chance to influence the future of globally significant infrastructure, support sustainable growth and help lead a nationally important organisation, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Working Here
Harwich Haven Authority have signed the Armed Forces Covenant to ensure that ex-forces personnel are not disadvantaged as a result of their service. Veterans can find making the transition to civilian life extremely challenging, particularly in finding and securing lasting employment. To support this, we have introduced an Armed Forces Guaranteed Interview Scheme for Veterans. The commitment is to guarantee an interview for any eligible veterans that meet the essential criteria, as set out in the person specification, although this does not guarantee a job. To find out if you are eligible, please visit the Armed Forces Covenant website.
We are a Living Wage Employer, which means we are voluntarily taking a stand to ensure our employees can earn a wage which is enough to live on. We are recognised through the Pension Quality Mark (PQM) that we offer employees a high quality defined contribution (DC) pension scheme with a maximum of 15.26% in contributions. This demonstrates that we go beyond the minimum regulatory requirements and have good contribution levels, good governance and are actively encouraging employees to save for their future.
In May 2024, we gained the highest gold level accreditation from Essex Working Well, part of the Essex Wellbeing Service. This accreditation recognises our commitment to providing the very highest quality of workplace health and wellbeing services, robust policies and meaningful activities to help our people feel their very best.
We were delighted to be selected as finalists in the 2024 East Anglian Daily Times Business Awards under the category of ‘Employer of the Year’. Being nominated for this award demonstrates that we are going above and beyond in providing sustainability initiatives, reward and recognition schemes, learning and development opportunities and workplace wellbeing activities.
In August 2024, we joined The 5% Club. Members aspire to achieve 5% of their workforce in ‘earn and learn’ positions (including apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formalised training schemes) within five years of joining. We are already meeting this through our apprenticeship schemes, but this percentage can include anyone who signs up for training lasting at least 12 months, which is funded by the Authority. More than 1,000 organisations across the UK have already joined the movement and this highlights that we are committed to providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities for our employees.
Please note that we do not accept unsolicited CVs and Right to Work in the UK must be in place before applying for a role with us.
