Harwich Haven Authority (HHA) has announced Community Voluntary Services  Tendring (CVST) as its Charity of the Year, marking the start of a year-long partnership focused on supporting communities across the Tendring district.

CVST works with voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to help strengthen local services, support vulnerable people and build resilient communities.

Lisa Andrews, Chief  Executive at CVST, said: “We are delighted to be named the Harwich Haven Authority’s Charity of the Year for 2026.

“This is a huge honour to us and will really go a long way in furthering our profile in the Harwich area as well as really important fundraising.

“We have a very strong community base in the high street with lots of activities and groups that help so many people, but as a charity we rely solely on grants and fundraising to keep us going.

“Being the HHA’s Charity of the Year will help us to continue that work and also provide some great collaboration along the way.

“We want to say a huge thank you to HHA already for choosing us, and to the staff for supporting us so far and throughout this year.”

Through the partnership, HHA colleagues will take part in a series of fundraising and awareness-raising activities throughout the year, with funds raised going directly towards CVST’s work in the district.

In addition to fundraising, HHA colleagues can support charitable causes through the Authority’s volunteering policy, which gives employees an extra day of annual leave each year to volunteer for a cause they care about. This enables colleagues to provide practical support to local organisations, including those supported by CVST’s.

Linzi Jobber, ESG Director at Harwich Haven Authority, said:  “Selecting CVST as our Charity of the Year reflects our employee’s commitment to supporting our local community.

“Seeing how their work makes a real difference across Tendring is inspirational, and we’re proud to stand behind an organisation that delivers such positive social impact.”

Further details on fundraising events and activities will be shared as the year progresses.
