The Evergreen Line container ship Ever Atop has broken the record for the deepest ever Megamax vessel coming into UK waters, arriving into the Harwich Haven at an incredible 16.85m draught.

The vessel, which berthed at the Port of Felixstowe on Wednesday 2 July, arrived carrying around 24,000 TEU and with a displacement of around 300,000 tonnes.

Will Barker, Marine Director for HHA said:

“I’m very proud of our amazing team who put a huge amount of work into planning, coordinating and delivering this significant maritime achievement.

Bringing in a vessel of this scale and draught highlights the world-class expertise and infrastructure we have here at Harwich Haven Authority.

We’re proud to play our part in enabling global trade by ensuring the safe, efficient arrival of the world’s largest ships, even at their deepest.”

The previous record for the deepest ever Megamax vessel was the OOCL Spain, which visited the Haven in February 2024 with a deep draught of 16.3m.
