29-2018: Harwich Sea Festival, navigational exclusion zone & Ha’penny Pier pontoon restrictions
Harwich Sea Festival
The Harwich Sea Festival is jointly organised by the Rotary Club and Harwich RNLI. The festival will run from 11:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs on the 29th July 2018. The event organisers have published detailed festival information via the following link https://www.harwichseafestival.co.uk/
Navigational exclusion zone
Mariners are advised that on the 29th of July 2018 between approximately 14:45 hrs and 15:15 hrs a navigational exclusion zone will be established in the vicinity of Harwich Ha’penny Pier. This exclusion zone is being established to ensure safety during a helicopter search and rescue demonstration during the Harwich Sea Festival.
The exclusion zone covers the area west of a line drawn between Shotley Point and the eastern end of the Navyard dock, terminating in a line drawn between the tower on Ganges Pier and the eastern end of Harwich International port.
During this period no vessel shall enter or pass through the exclusion zone without the expressed permission of the Harbour Master. Harwich VTS will broadcast prior to, as well as at the commencement and completion of the exclusion zone on VHF channel 71.
Please note that all times are given in BST.
Ha’penny Pier pontoon restrictions
Mariners are advised that there will be restricted access to the Ha’penny Pier pontoons, Harwich, on Friday 27th July, Saturday 28th July and Sunday 29th July. The restriction is due to the annual Harwich Sea Festival, please see mooring plan below.
Limited spaces for visiting leisure vessels will be available (see map) but we advise that vessels will be double berthed if necessary. Therefore, sailors arriving in the pontoon area should come prepared with the appropriate protection for their vessel.
The Harwich Haven Authority Pier Master will be manning the pontoons and their directions should be followed at all times.
The standard mooring charges will be enforced throughout the period in question. Our mooring charges can be found at https://hha.co.uk/leisure/mooring/
Vessels on moorings inside Ha’penny Pier will also be required to vacate their moorings from the 27th to the 29th of July.
