10-2009: Sediment placement operations

Mariners are advised that Sediment Placement Operations will be undertaken annually within the Harbour, River Orwell and River Stour in three separate operations, between the months of November and April.

The River Placement Operations on the Orwell, Copperas and Erwarton tracks requires a dredger to pump sediment whilst underway at a speed of approximately 4 knots along the designated track on a flood tide.

The Harbour Placement Operations on the Harwich Shelf requires a dredger to pump sediment via the dredge pipe onto the harbour bed whilst underway and will be undertaken at all states of the tide.
